After further inspection of NOMAD I found the logbook and info sheet to be rather damp. I will dry it out a bit before finding a good hiding spot for it in an area it has not been before.

Despite the fact this area has been used for a group staging grounds for caching NOMAD has never been here before. Happy caching

Thanks DShiff. A group staging was nearby yesterday for the Ministik Spring Fever Hike 2014. I took the opportunity to grab NOMAD after being dropped off to pick up my car. I'm glad it wasn't much of a bushwhack. I was starting to believe it had been picked up already after 5 minutes of searching, but I found it tucked away right at GZ.

Has NOMAD been placed in a new spot yet?

Are there new coordinates for NOMAD yet?

Sorry everyone...NOMAD was kidnapped by the NF's and left to rot. RC67 reminded me that I still had it and I will drop it soon.

Thanks for the push. Nomad has visited South Campus of UofA to the new Medical Isotope, and Cyclotron Facility. Go to GZ and find the rock. Nomad is hinding within a meter.

I just grabbed Nomad - we meet again, my old friend.

Had to get out and try a new - for me - way of caching. I just bought an Android pocket-sized smart gadget (I'll refer to it as a phone after I put in a SIM card), loaded up what might be the most heavy-duty mapping/caching app available (Locus Maps Pro), and wanted to see how well it works offline. FIrst impressions: good, really good.

Anyway, I spent some quality time on the grass on this sunny day beside my bike, flipping through all the stories in the logbook but otherwise ignoring Nomad while playing with my new toy. Then rode right past the edge of my cached map tiles, oops. Gotta work on that.

I'll get Nomad back in action soon, and I promise to use the trusty old Garmin to mark the coords. Wink

What an absolutely gorgeous day to be outside! Everybody who's into fitness, and half of everybody else, seems to have been on the trails today. And I've never seen so many people out on the river either, other than maybe during the raft race.

Anyway, I actually managed to find a little privacy in the bush, and put Nomad back into play.

Just wondering if Nomad is still in play, considering the last hide was back in Sept. Let me know. \

Should be. Sometimes he goes years between visits - just like some regular caches.

I placed him with winter in mind. Give it a whirl...

Does "winter in mind" mean "metal detector in hand"?

I had a crack at NOMAD yesterday and moved a lot of snow, all to no avail. No flagging anywhere near GZ, either.

Nomad is still right where I left him; it was another great bike-riding day today, so I had a peek on my way to nowhere in particular. Very Happy

I went down to check on Nomad yesterday, and found it right where I'd been looking - that spot was pretty iced up after the blizzards in the late winter.

It's been relocated - not too far, mind you - to:

W 113 32.041

D 2 / T 3.5
